MARIA JOSE DAMIA PATINO
Maria J. Damia Patiño is an Argentine Industrial Designer and Theatre & Performance Designer, graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba and currently completing an MA in Theatre & Performance Design at Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL.
With a background as a musician and violinist, she is particularly interested in the relationship between music, performance and visual design, exploring how scenography, costume and material can respond to rhythm, character and storytelling. Her practice is multidisciplinary, combining spatial and visual design with 3D modelling and rendering, illustration, animation, ceramics, jewellery making and 3D printing. She also works across model making, prop design and fabrication, costume research, styling and wardrobe, with a particular interest in the relationship between materials, silhouette and character.
Recent projects include The History of Mr Polly (The Cockpit), Set & Costume Designer; Enron (Brentwood Theatre), Associate Set & Costume Designer; Blue/Orange (OSO Arts Centre), Associate Set & Costume Designer; and Stealing It Back (Short Film), Art Department.
Her practice is driven by a curiosity for material, craft and storytelling, bringing together the precision of industrial design with the theatrical possibilities of space, costume and performance.
